# Installing and registering WT PDF.js in Joomla

Install the ZIP through Joomla.

WT PDF.js is a Joomla 5+ system plugin for displaying PDFs with PDF.js. It registers the library in WebAssetManager and includes viewers for newer and older browsers. This documentation covers version 6.4.299.

## Install the plugin and register assets

Install the ZIP through Joomla. The plugin group is `system`; its element is `wtpdfjs`. The installer enables it after installation and updates. Check System → Plugins → WT PDF.js. Plugin parameters include separate instructions for user JSON profiles.

The plugin registers `media/plg_system_wtpdfjs/joomla.asset.json` on the frontend during `onAfterRoute`. Registration does not add JavaScript to every page: activate it using `useScript()` or an asset dependency. Administrator pages must register the file explicitly. Use WebAssetManager before the HTML document is rendered.
