How to display the first placemarks on the map

Go to the settings of the WT Yandex map items module by selecting in the left menu of the Joomla admin panel the Content - Site Modules or the System - Management - Site Modules. Select the desired instance of the module or create a new one, assign the desired template position and access rights to the module. Publish the module.

Basic settings

For the Yandex maps API 3.0 to work you need to get an API key in the Yandex developer dashboard. Read: How to get the Yandex API key.Maps in the Yandex developer dashboard (Russian language)?

Specify the Yandex.Maps API key and select the API type paid or free. The current data source (v.1.0.0, v.2.0.0) is standard Joomla articles.

The coordinate field

The module needs to know where to get the coordinate values for the placemarks on the map from. To specify coordinates in Joomla articles use custom fields. Create a custom field for aticles. Then select the created field from the drop-down list in module settings.

Option 1. Standard Joomla text field for specifying coordinates

Either a standard text type field is suitable. In this case, it is necessary to specify the coordinates in it in the form of decimal fractions separated by commas. The coordinates will be filled in manually by you. 

Option 2. Using the plugin Fields - WT Yandex Map

You can use the plugin to fill in the coordinatesThe Field plugin is WT Yandex Map. It will make it easier and clearer to find and fill in coordinates.

The user caching time parameter enables forced caching for the ajax request data of the module and will be useful when displaying a large number of labels on the map.

Select one or more categories whose articles have a field with coordinates and should be displayed on the map. If necessary, specify the tags for filtering. Limit the number of articles displayed on the map. 

Parameters "The fields of the marker layout articles (comma-separated enumeration)" and "The fields of the articles for the popup window layout (comma-separated)" indicate which articles data is available when creating your own marker and popup window content layouts. As part of the quick start, it is recommended to leave these parameters by default.

The parameter "Process content with plugins" includes the processing of texts of Joomla articles with plugins: short codes in the text will be replaced with their contents.

The default appearance of the placemark on Yandex.map is a red circle with a line leading to a point on the map. There is an inscription on a white background to the right of the circle. This inscription is the title of the Joomla article.

Pop-up windows on clicking on a placemark are disabled by default.
